Sometimes patients complain of pain and swelling in the relevant area.
In case they get too big, they can damage other teeth, anatomical formations such as sinus and nasal floor.
Cysts, which are usually benign, may occasionally show malignancy and turn into malignant formations. Therefore, they should be taken as soon as they are noticed.
Jaw Cysts Treatment:
The treatment plan should be determined by looking at the radiographs according to the location and size of the cyst. In general, as minimum amount of bone as possible are removed to reach the cyst in the jawbone, and the cyst is cleaned from that area and sutured. In appropriate cases, bone graft materials should be applied to the area where the cyst was removed. Cyst operations should be performed by a specialist oral surgeon and the cyst should be sent to the laboratory for pathological examination.
Apart from wisdom teeth, canines and second molars can also remain impacted when they cannot find a suitable eruption position. First of all, it should be aimed to maintain these teeth with the help of braces, but the teeth that cannot be sustained due to their position should be surgically extracted. While impacted teeth that are not pulled out cause cyst formation, they also damage other existing teeth in the mouth.
