Disorders Of The Temporomandibular Joint (Jaw Joint)
The jaw joint is called the temporomandibular joint. It is a structure formed between the condyle of the lower jaw and the temporal bone, which is the skull bone, and contains a joint cartilage, capsule and muscle tissues around it.
TMJ disorders are the general name of a group of disorders that occur with acute or chronic pain, usually due to excessive loads on the masticatory muscles and/or inflammatory changes in the joint.
