Periodontal Treatment

Initial periodontal therapy includes cleaning the calculus above and below the gingiva (supragingival-subgingival) and smoothing the root surfaces under local anesthesia. The aim at this stage is to ensure that the calculus, bacteria and toxins that cause inflammation are removed from the mouth. Then, oral hygiene education is given to the patient.

In advanced cases, surgical intervention may be required by making a decision together with x-ray examination and clinical examination. Depending on the type of bone loss during the surgical operation, support is provided to the existing bone with the application of biomaterials (bone greft and membrane) in appropriate cases.
